Fundraising Activities for a Better Future

Project 7 by 7

This group wide initiative was pioneered by Matthew Rowe – CEO of CountPlus Limited and has been enthusiastically embraced by the whole team. The goal is to make a difference to the community by having staff and principals find philanthropic activities that generate $1. Each dollar raised is multiplied by accessing resources available to the firm such as dollar-for-dollar funding from Count Charitable Foundation. The aim is to reach a multiple of seven for each one dollar raised and the team is dedicated to making it happen in 2019 and beyond.

Humpty Dumpty Foundation

The Count Charitable Foundation pledged $7,000 in acknowledgement of pro bono work. $5,350 of these funds was presented to the Humpty Dumpty Foundation at our annual conference. These funds help the Humpty Dumpty Foundation continue their work in purchasing vital, life-saving equipment for children’s hospitals, maternity and natal wards.

White Ribbon Australia

CountPlus One raised $12,596 at our inaugural Trivia fundraiser held at Kirribilli Club. The event was attended by 109 people including staff, clients and people from our network and community. Count Charitable Foundation generously matched our fundraising, dollar-for-dollar, bringing the total donation to $25,192. These funds support White Ribbon Australia’s work in building a future free from domestic violence and abuse.

Cancer Council

The North Sydney and Parramatta offices had a delicious time raising money for the Cancer Council. Both offices hosted their own Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, raising $1,000 for the charity.

Pink Ribbon Day

This is another Cancer Council initiative, with a specific focus on breast and gynaecological cancers. Our staff raised $602 for this worthy cause.

Beauty Bank

One of the key speakers at the White Ribbon Foundation was Jenny Armstrong.  Jenny founded a charity called Beauty Bank, to assist abused or battered woman. CountPlus One team members donated goods, cash, and sacrificed Friday social drinks to buy supplies for the cause. The money raised for women in need resulted in a donation of goods with an estimated value of $500.

Charitable ‘Mo Bros’ and ‘Mo Sisters’ on our team got behind this popular men’s health initiative. Together the staff raised $530 for this worthy cause.

Salvation Army Music Therapy Program

The Count Charitable Foundation allowed us to nominate a cause to receive a $5,000 Christmas donation. The Salvation Army Music Therapy Program in Parramatta was chosen. They support children and adolescents with specific learning and medical challenges within our community.

CountPlus One Toy Drive

Our usual ‘Kris Kringle’ was substituted with a Toys Drive amongst staff. Each staff member donated a $20 gift to the hospitals in our community. These included Westmead Children’s Hospital and St Vincent’s Children’s Hospital. 30 staff members each gave a gift to this cause, bringing the total contribution for this drive to $600.

Providing Pro Bono Services

CountPlus One staff are also encouraged to give back to our community through pro bono activities. We’re proud of them for donating their professional skills and time toward helping the community. Pro bono hours totalling 300 have been donated and committed to the following causes.

Salvation Army

Tax returns prepared and financial planning advice provided for 36 members of the Salvation Army Church in Western Sydney. These pro bono clients were inherited from a former principal, based on his relationship with the church. CountPlus One has continued the tradition with estimated hours donated at 150 per year.

RSPCA Million Paws Walk

On Sunday 19 May, thousands of people and their pooches walked together to show their support for the animals of Australia. Million Paws Walk is a fun day out where we celebrate our furry friends and come together to raise much-needed funds to help care for the 250,000 animals who come through our doors each year. CountPlus One participated and contributed to raising $782,627. Participating in this event is something we love doing every year.
